Cabbage Egg Stir-fry / Cabbage Egg Poriyal

Cabbage egg stir fry is a south Indian dish. When you get bored with the usual cabbage stir fry, you can try this recipe which is equally easy to make. It goes well with rice. You can also wrap it in a chapati for lunch; so here goes the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage – 250 g, chopped
  • Egg – 2, beaten
  • Onion – 1, chopped
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste

To Temper

  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Red chili – 2
  • Oil – 2 tsp

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan. when it turns hot, add the items under ‘To temper’ and add onion to this mixture, and sauté for few minutes.cabbage-egg-poriyal_1
  2. Now add cabbage to this and stir it for a couple of minutes. Add turmeric powder, pepper powder, and salt. Allow it to cook.cabbage-egg-poriyal_2
  3. Once cooked, add the beaten egg and scramble it with cabbage till it gets almost dry.cabbage-egg-poriyal_3cabbage-egg-poriyal_4

Now you can serve it with rice or just wrap it in a chapati…
